I’m Kvein—a designer obsessed with making things work.

The typo above is a dogwhistle to let you know this wasn't generated by AI. To be clear, I'm all-in on AI, but I also think it would suck the soul out of this About Me. I believe writing human-to-human should be grounded in authenticity. (Sidetrack: More of my thoughts on that here.) (Double-sidetrack: I'm not a writer, —at least professionally—but I've written a lot for work, and myself.)

I'd say I'm relentless not just in the way I design but the way I think; there's always a better, optimal way. I care most about clarity, intention, and building products that respect the people using them. My process is grounded, curious, and focused. Every design decision should be rooted in real understanding—not just of systems and strategy, but of the person behind the screen.

I don’t believe in choosing between detail and direction. I often sweat the small stuff because it shapes how people feel. But I always keep the big picture in view—what this is, who it’s for, and why it matters.

I work best with teams that value thoughtfulness, momentum, and a high bar. And I do my best work when the goal is simple: make something that works, and make it matter.

I care about design a lot, but I also care about the things in life that make it worth living: family, friends, my cats, my dog, good music, spicy food, video games, dystopian sci-fi, running, traveling, and sleeping in.
